Watermelon Refresher

This combo is SO sweet and satisfying during hot summer days! Watermelon is incredibly cooling to the body, as is the fresh mint in this recipe and the fresh lemon balm.

According to Anthony William, Medical Medium, "Watermelon is an excellent fruit that effectively hydrates, detoxifies, and cleanses the entire body on a cellular level. Watermelon is also known to significantly reduce inflammation, help flush out edema, aid in weight loss, and alleviate depression. Watermelon can also boost the immune system as well as strengthen vision. And, if you are lucky enough to get a watermelon with black seeds, even better! Crunch those seeds up too, they have an amazing effect on the nervous system, aiding in relaxing the body and lowering blood pressure and contain helpful amounts of iron, zinc, and protein." Amazing right?!

Mint and lemon balm help support the nervous system and take this drink to a whole new level! I've even been giving some to my dogs and they LOVE this as much as I do!

Watermelon Refresher

Ingredients:

4 cups organic watermelon

handful fresh mint + lemon balm leaves

juice of 1/2-1 lemon or lime

Directions:

Cut watermelon into slices and cut the inside from the rind into medium-sized pieces OR cut the watermelon in half and use a spoon to scoop out the inside! Place watermelon, mint, lemon balm and lemon or lime juice into a blender. Blend until smooth!

Serves 1-2

Look at this BEAUTIFUL seeded watermelon!!! I found it at a nearby health food store ON SALE!

You can find them at farmers markets during this time of year as well :) organic is always best, but if you can't find organic, that's ok too. Just do your best! I believe it's always better to have fruits and veggies around so you can make the best food choices for your body, and if that means that some of it isn't organic, it's still way better than getting fast food!
