Oven-baked Shoestring Fries (gf, vegan, oil-free)
These fries are one of my favorite recipes I've made this year!! They're crispy, just the right amount of spice and flavor and they're not fried or covered in oil! Could it really get any better?!
I really don't think so ;)
You can use Yukon Gold potatoes or sweet potatoes OR a mix of both! Play with the spices and find your favorite combinations. The flavor possibilities are endless. I'm sharing my personal favorite blend, but you can use whatever spices are your favorite! Cumin is another great one to use. I also love using Italian herbs on the Yukon Golds with a bit of salt + pepper and garam masala on the sweet potatoes.
Oven-baked Shoestring Fries
Ingredients:
4 potatoes spiralized on the thickest setting (all Yukon Golds or 3 Yukons with one sweet potato)
1 tablespoon dried minced onion
1-2 teaspoons turmeric
1 tablespoon garlic powder
sprinkle of Himalayan pink salt or sea salt
sprinkle of fresh ground pepper
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375F. While oven is preheating, toss the spiralized potatoes with all the spices. Remember to cut the spirals so they're not super long (sometimes I forget and wind up with fries that are over a foot long)! Place potatoes onto a baking sheet with a reusable silicon baking sheet or parchment paper. Bake for 20-30 mins until fries begin to get crisp. Take out and toss so the less crispy potatoes can get crispy. Bake for another 10-15 mins, keeping an eye on the fries so they don't burn.
Allow to cool for a few minutes and serve on top of a large salad or munch by themselves! These shoestring fries go GREAT with my tahini drizzle sauce ;) simply mix 2 tablespoons tahini with the juice of 1 lemon or lime, add a bit of water and stir!
